What's in the name and how will it define the site and our
purpose?
To insure it’s a productive meeting, I suggest the Outrigger; its
free except for drinks. Should be a light 1.5-2 hour meeting.
Basically meet & greet and share basic thoughts on the main
goal for the organization.
If there are other people that are highly motivated, dependable and
effective in getting things done, lets discuss between the three of
us first the why and why not. I'm sure we know people that want to
participate but in the initial start-up, we need to establish the
structure/foundation. This should be done by the core
group/administrators. After this is established we can entertain
addition core members
The more I discuss this with others I see the need of sub
committees down the road:
· The social aspect
· The business aspect
· Community interest aspect
Suggest the following soft agenda, let me know if we can add or
should take away from the following:
Main Goal: Unite Guam's African American Social Group (There's
Power in Numbers)
Objective to achieve goal:
· Develop a mission statement?
· Development of a website
o Rules and guidelines to protect members and protect our
integrity
o Handling/Collection of demographic information
o Coordinated promotion with social events; parties, fund raising,
ect.
o Monthly Newsletter
§ Content
§ Events
§ Issues/Interest
o Website photos / gallery
o Promotion/marketing of the website
§ How do we get the word out about the website?
§ Cost?
· Community Affairs/Interest
o Priority "Doyle Perry" at DOC
Second or Third Meeting we should review:
· Planned Social Events/fundraising
o A calendar of events for the year
· "Registered" Members Benefits
o Insurance Discounts
o Restaurants Discounts
o Shopping Discounts
o Hotel Accommodations
· Business Interest
o Networking with other Black own companies
o Marketing black owned businesses here on island and in the Mid
Pacific
· Community Affairs/Interest
o Military and mixed martial arts problem (Need more details)
